My developing teaching philosophy is in part the result of my collective academic and professional experiences during my previous and current graduate study, teaching at both a four-year university and community college, and helping writers via online tutoring.

My current pedagogical focus involves my transition from teaching within traditional English department settings to working collaboratively with engineering instructors to teach application of communication methods within a specific discipline. Particularly as a result of my experience with the Engineering Communications Program at Virginia Tech over the last few years, I seek to help students from any academic discipline learn how to make connections between the rhetorical communication strategies typically emphasized in writing courses and the ways they write to communicate ideas within their own disciplines.
